Supply update: Zovirax Ophthalmic Ointment (aciclovir 3%) (1)
Regrettably, Zovirax Ophthalmic Ointment (aciclovir 3%) continues to be impacted by a global supply constraint and is unlikely to be available in Australia prior to September 2015.
This re-supply date is an estimation and is subject to change. We sincerely regret the inconvenience this is causing patients, pharmacists and doctors and will continue to provide updates on resupply.
The supply shortage is caused by an issue affecting aciclovir, the product’s active pharmaceutical ingredient, which did not meet specifications and resulted in a retail level recall in October 2014. We continue to work diligently with our API supplier to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns about Zovirax Ophthalmic Ointment, talk to your ophthalmologist or other health professional.
Doctors and pharmacists who require additional information should visit the TGA website or contact GSK medical information enquiries on 1800 033 109.
