GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is aware that there may be an increased concern in poppy crop security following recent media reports.

GSK takes crop security very seriously and we work in partnership with poppy growers and the broader industry to ensure appropriate measures are in place such as fencing, signage and regular monitoring.

Any breach of security is of concern to GSK and we sympathise with anyone directly or indirectly impacted.

The Poppy Advisory Board (PACB) regulates the poppy industry in Tasmanian and monitors the industry closely.

GSK is one of three companies that contracts Tasmanian farmers to grow poppy crops. For any information related to recent security issues around poppy crops please contact the Tasmanian police.

The poppy industry is working hard to increase awareness of the dangers of ingesting poppies. For more information please visit http://notyouraveragepoppy.org.au/
