Children’s Panadol® 1-5 Years Suspension temporarily out of stock

The makers of Children’s Panadol^®, GSK, today confirmed that their Children’s Panadol^® 1-5 years suspension range would be out of stock for a limited period, due to a competitor patent challenge.

While Children’s Panadol^® 1-5 years suspension is unavailable, parents should seek advice from their doctor or local pharmacist about other Children’s Panadol^® products that may be a suitable alternative for their child.

Vincent Cotard, GSK General Manager Consumer Healthcare ANZ reiterated that there are no safety, efficacy or formulation issues with Children’s Panadol® 1-5 years suspension.

“We are working hard to ensure that Children’s Panadol^® 1-5 years suspension is available again as soon as possible,” Vincent Cotard said.

“Only the new Children’s Panadol^® 1-5 years suspension is affected. Children’s Panadol^® Baby Drops, Children’s Panadol^® 5-12 years Elixir and the new Children’s Panadol^® 5-12 years suspensions are not impacted and remain available from pharmacies.”

While the Children’s Panadol^® 1-5 years suspension range is unavailable in pharmacies, consumers are advised to speak to their pharmacist about using other Children’s Panadol^® products that may be a suitable alternative.

The products in the Children’s Panadol^® range contain different concentrations of the active ingredient, paracetamol. The dosage instructions for each product in the range are different due to different concentrations of paracetamol in each product. The dosage guidelines provided with all Children’s Panadol products should be followed carefully.

Parents can also access the dosage calculator at www.ChildrensPanadol.com.au. The dosage calculator and guidelines enable parents to determine the right amount for their child based on their weight and age.
