Anne Belcher, Head of GSK Australia Pharmaceuticals, appointed to Medicines Australia Board
Anne Belcher, General Manager of GSK Australia Pharmaceuticals, has welcomed her appointment to the Medicines Australia (MA) Board, as voted for by her peers. Announced during the industry organisation’s AGM, Anne joins nine other pharmaceutical leaders who will represent the industry in discussions with government and other key stakeholders.
Speaking about her appointment, Anne said: “I am delighted to have been voted onto the MA Board and I look forward to working as part of a collaborative and focussed team. It is critical that, as a board, we concentrate our energy on the execution and delivery of our agreed strategy and prioritise key areas of focus”.
“By partnering together across industry, I believe we can have the greatest impact to ensure timely access to new medicines and vaccines for Australians. I remain committed to continuing to strengthen our industry’s partnership with government, which is crucial to ensuring a robust pharmaceutical industry in Australia.”
Anne’s appointment strengthens the representation of companies on the Board that are based in Victoria, which is home to more than 40 per cent of Australia’s biomedical researchers. “The pharmaceutical industry is well represented in Victoria and Victoria is now well represented on the MA Board with two members,” she commented.
“I would like thank the outgoing members for all their hard work and commitment over the past term and I would also like to congratulate each of my peers that have been nominated today. I am excited to have the opportunity to shape the future of our industry with them,” she added.
Anne’s appointment is effective immediately.

Anne Belcher has 27 years’ business experience including 25 years at GSK. She has experience and success in diverse market environments including both mature and developing markets and worked in New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea and Belgium in both local and regional roles.
Before joining GSK Australia, Anne was Head of Ethics and Compliance across Emerging Markets, Asia Pacific and Japan to strengthen commercial insight and business partnering in the function. Previously she held the position of General Manager of the Indonesian Pharmaceutical business.
Originally from New Zealand, Anne is a pharmacist and joined GSK as a sales representative in New Zealand in 1991.
